UK’s No.2 RWB MAI
Akira Nakai, the founder of RWB, created one of the most beautiful cars to admire; it’s so artistic one feels like you’re driving a Picasso.
Germany is well known worldwide for producing some of the world’s most iconic cars, and no other manufacturer comes close.
make it your way
Many car enthusiasts love to personalise and enhance their cars, each in their own unique way. Some opt for simple upgrades like LED number plate lights, while others embark on ambitious projects, ultimately transforming their vehicles. No matter your preference, if you enjoy starting with a great car and turning it into an RWB masterpiece that stands out on the road, you’re in the right place.
We only have one life to live, so why not seize the opportunity to join us on a journey to own something truly iconic? While it’s true that there are luxury cars like Ferrari and Lamborghini out there, once you see them parked next to an RWB, it’s not hard to appreciate the sheer beauty and uniqueness that an RWB brings to the table.

Build Day one
Nakai San took a few moments to examine the car, and although we can’t be sure what was going through his mind, it’s safe to say he envisioned an incredible outcome. He carefully inspected the suspension, assessed the paint quality, and eagerly began the transformation. He started with the front bumper, a crucial step that involved mounting and painting the grilles before installation. Nakai San’s meticulous approach was evident as he placed and removed the bumper multiple times, shaping the excess fibre to ensure a flawless fit before moving on to the wheel arches.
Like Hibiki, the base 993 was all set and primed for Nakai San to work his enchanting magic and turn this ordinary 993 into a legendary RWB masterpiece. Building on the experience gained from our first project, we were well-prepared this time. We had a clear understanding of Nakai San’s methods. With the help of Yucan, his skilled apprentice, who has been working alongside Nakai San for many years and contributed to every build, we had all the expertise we needed. And, as always, Nakai San wasted no time diving right into the project with enthusiasm. And, as always, Nakai San wasted no time diving right into the project with enthusiasm.

wheels and suspension
The suspension system employed in this project was airlift. This lift kit features a user-friendly control panel, allowing every corner to be adjusted high to clear speed bumps to a complete drop when parked. On the dashboard, it facilitates the effortless adjustment of the vehicle’s ride height. Furthermore, the selection of Works wheels, notable for their substantial size, was executed meticulously by Nakai San to ensure a seamless fitment that aligns precisely with the vehicle’s wheel arches. This meticulous attention to detail reflects the car’s striking and awe-inspiring stance.
build day two
Nakai San started early to make sure he had enough time; on the second day, all body parts received the final fixing, braces added and what seemed to take a long time was aligning the suspension and test fitting the wheels. Nakai San doesn’t waste time, and once the side skirts and the rear wing is added, it’s getting to a stage where you cannot wait to take it for a drive. When he bonds the wheel arches to the body, it is a magical sight to see how precisely he glides over the joints to give a perfect seal.
One of the pivotal considerations in any automotive build is selecting an appropriate colour scheme. In the context of the 993 project, a meticulous choice was made to ensure that the chosen colour harmoniously enhanced the RWB (Rauh-Welt Begriff) build. Consequently, the decision was to employ “Miami blue,” a hue to accentuate the vehicle’s exquisite design lines.
As is customary with any RWB (Rauh-Welt Begriff) project, the array of customisation possibilities is virtually boundless, with design decisions primarily left to the discretion of the vehicle owners regarding additional modifications. In the case of the 993 project, many alterations were executed. To harmoniously blend the interior with the vehicle’s exterior aesthetic, the dashboard clocks received custom painting, a meticulous process masterfully directed by Reap Automotive Design. Similarly, the steering wheel was artfully crafted by MOMO to complement the overall design concept. We sincerely thank our valued sponsors for their significant contributions to the realisation of the UK’s inaugural RWB build project.
After three days of meticulous assembly, we witnessed the creation of an automotive icon, a culmination that far exceeded our initial expectations. This masterpiece’s intricacies and nuances are best appreciated in person, as mere pictures and videos circulating online do not fully capture its exceptional beauty.
The concluding phase involves a meticulous final inspection by Nakai San, whose approval is the green light for the subsequent cleaning and polishing processes. During this phase, Nakai San proudly affixes the RAUH Welt banner to the windscreen, and a heartfelt handshake symbolises the culmination of a collaborative effort. This momentous occasion marks the completion of a once-in-a-lifetime journey, and we extend our deepest gratitude to Nakai San for affording us the privilege of playing a modest role in his passionate pursuit of crafting these iconic automobiles.
Finally, Nakai San names the car himself, and in our case, he chose Mai which means dance in Japanese.
When it came to sprucing up the interior of our project, we teamed up with Recaro, a well-known name in the world of fantastic seating solutions. They were the perfect choice for this exciting project.
Recaro went above and beyond, giving special attention to detail as they reupholstered the seats and interior panels using luxurious Alcantara material adorned with eye-catching yellow stitching. We wanted something that would catch your eye, so we chose vibrant yellow seatbacks and matching seatbelts for that extra pop of personality.
